    Hello,
I have a C260E that's a couple of years old that I've just installed an SSD in and upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I've installed some of the essential drivers from Sony's site: Sony eSupport - VGN-C260E - Software Updates & Drivers including the two touchpad ones, but I am unable to get touchpad scrolling to work.

More specifically when I download and attempt to install this pointing device driver: Sony eSupport - VGN-C260E - Software Updates & Drivers the Program Compatibility Assistant says that this driver is incompatible with this version of windows. When I click run program, it says I have to run the 64 bit of DPInst.exe on this computer. Wouldn't the 64 bit build of Win7 already have the 64 bit of Device Package Installer?

The verison of WDK (Windows Driver Kit) that I downloaded from the MS website is an ISO. Should I even be downloading this/ where can I find an exe?

I've also installed the drivers from the Synaptics website but that one messed up my touchpad completely so I had to restore Windows to an earlier state to erase that touchpad driver.

My other issue is that I don't have the ability to change screen brightness when pressing FN+F5/F6. I just installed the Sony Notebook Utilities driver which gained the pop up thing for volume control when I press FN+F2/3/4 but what do I need to download to get the brightness controls to work?

Also this may be a hardware issue but I'll ask anyway. My computer won't recognize that there's a battery inserted, and when the computer is not plugged in is not usable. However on some occasions when I reinsert the battery it'll show that the battery is charging, but when I unplug the power source the computer dies. I also got a replacement battery and it had the same issue, so do you think the battery contacts that's attached to the motherboard is broken? Or maybe it's an easier fix...

Basically to sum up my three problems: no touchpad scroll, no brightness adjust using fn+f5, computer won't work unless plugged in. Any advice on how to fix any of these is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help.
