When Installing the Sony Drivers, it is NECESSARY to install 01, 02, and 03, in that order (and it may be necessary to run 01 as an administrator). Otherwise you may not have functioning FN keys and other anomalies.

    System Drivers
01 - Sony Firmware Extension Parser Device Driver v8.0.1.1
    02 - Sony Shared Library v5.5.0.10160
    03 - Sony Notebook Utilites v1.0
    04 - Intel Chipset Driver v9.1.1.1023
    05 - Intel SATA Driver v8.9.4.1004
    06 - Intel Turbo Boost v1.0.0.1030
    07 - NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M Video Driver v8.16.11.8783 <-See Below
08 - Realtek High Definition Audio Driver v6.0.1.5964
    09 - Synaptics Touchpad Driver v2199CC21
    10 - Marvel Gigabit Ethernet v11.22.4.3
11 - Marvel Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter Driver v8.0.0.238
12 - Ricoh PCIe SD Bus Host Adapter Driver v6.13.2.6
13 - Ricoh SD CPRM Memory Card Reader Driver 3.1.0.4
14 - Ricoh PCIe Memory Stick Host Controller Driver v6.13.2.11
15 - Broadcom Bluetooth Driver v6.2.1.500 <-Did not install for me. Bluetooth works w/o it.
    16 - WebCam Companion 3 Software v3.0.21.193
    17 - SmartWi Connection Utility v4.9.4.20091005.2246 <-Not needed

Direct link to Sony's Driver page is located here.

    nVidia Drivers:

I'll try to keep this updated as often as possible (more or less dependent on when the updated drivers are released I suppose.) And thanks to XGX2007 for getting it started!

1 did not install correctly than. Reinstall windows and try again, making 100% sure 1 installs, then 2, then 3 (wit restarts after each)

Hi, I've got the UK VPC-CW2Z1E i3 330GT on order do you recommend the same process and drivers? (apart from the obvious one).

    Thanks

Does Vaio Power Management, Vaio Update, Vaio Care and Vaio Location Utility need to be installed? How about the other software downloads you can get from the CW website that aren't mentioned here?

No, none of those are necessary for a clean install. And Vaio Power Management is included with the Sony Notebook Utilities. Pretty much what is listed will give you the cleanest, fastest, least amount of software necessary for a fully functional Windows 7 install (working FN keys ect...).

Thanks for the tip. I installed Vaio Care though, It seems like it could be half way useful. This laptop is screaming fast now and I haven't ran into any anomalies, and I don't expect to.

the assist button brings up vaio care, and the display off button works as it should, as well as the other function keys, but

What is the "Vaio" button supposed to do? Right now it just mutes and unmutes my speakers.

By default it runs Sony's media software - which you don't have, so it just mutes/unmutes instead.

So I guess the only way to disable Bluetooth is to disable the FOXCONN Bluetooth Radio in Device manager? I am imagining that disabling bluetooth will help increase battery life. At least it does significantly when i disable it on all my phones.

Hey, I just found this thread. What is the difference between the install instructions in this thread and those found in the CW Clean Install (second post for i3/i5)???

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=450641

Both say to install in those order. But why are these so different?

I have done one clean install using the "Clean Install" method. I am thinking about another clean install to clear a few things up and may try this way.

The drivers here were mostly cut and pasted from that Thread. This one is just to make sure you have the most up-to-date drivers for that model. Me and aan310 try to keep this thread updated pretty regularly, to reflect any new software updates. But the install order is the same here as it is in my thread. And just as a tip for all those reading this thread now, the Nvidia drivers that are referenced in the first post in the quote box have been updated, and I strongly recommend anyone with a CW to install these drivers. This current 197.25 release is rock solid stability wise, and is the smoothest set of drivers yet game wise. Also there are no reported heat issues or any BSOD's reported with these drivers.

    Hello

I have a VPCCW27FX / B with a processor core i5, the purchase last week and I change the OS of Win7 home premium to Win 7 Ultimate, the format yesterday but the function keys did not work, follow the steps to do a clean install of the OS, apparently the Sony Shared Library can not be installed in that OS version, anyone can help me?

I already tried like 6 times, first installing

    01 - Intel Chipset Driver v9.1.1.1023
    02 - Intel SATA Driver v8.9.4.1004
    03 - Intel Turbo Boost v1.0.0.1030
04 - Sony FW Extension Parser Device Driver v8.0.1.1
    05 - Sony Notebook Utilites v1.0
    06 - Sony Shared Library v5.5.0.10160

    also

01 - Sony FW Extension Parser Device Driver v8.0.1.1
    02 - Sony Shared Library v5.5.0.10160
    03 - Sony Notebook Utilites v1.0
    04 - Intel Chipset Driver v9.1.1.1023
    05 - Intel SATA Driver v8.9.4.1004
    06 - Intel Turbo Boost v1.0.0.1030
    07 - NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M Video Driver v8.16.11.8783

or if not first the sony shared library after the extension parser and last utilities but the notebook does not work, the sony shared library thow a compatibility error, when I install the sony netbook utilities after beginning to receive an error message that the battery makes the laptop into hibernation

I can do, you can change the version of the OS. of Home Premium to Ultimate?, can I install the sony shared library manually?, there is some other version of the sony shared library that works with the model of my laptop and is compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate in Spanish?

please, someone who can help me and send an email to sony support but I do not give me a solution.

Wow. You do just have bad luck. LOL. Before installing the new display drivers, did you uninstall the old ones, then boot into safe mode, run "Driver Sweeper" and clean out ALL the Nvidia files, then booting back into normal user mode and installing the new drivers cleanly?

Thanks, that clears up my confusion of why there were two threads. So they are really updated by you two huh? LOL, The first clean install I did I had two windows open side side. One with the clean install and the other with the Sony VPCCW26FX/W driver page to download from there. Just paranoid I guess since I wanted the latest.

I do have a question about the latest NVIDIA driver...You say it is 197.25. But when I go here...
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/win7x64/196.75/disclaimer

All I see at the bottom when I roll over the link for the driver and INF are 196.75. And up on the right under Latest I see: 197.16.

Where do I find 197.25 driver and INF files?

    Thanks

The required modified .inf doesn't have to be changed every time there is a driver update. The only time that the .inf really changes, is when there is new hardware added to it, and I think the last time it was modified was to add the new hardware ID's for the G/GT3xxx series NVIDIA cards.

Right click on the link and select "Save link as..." and when the window comes up on where you want to save it, under the filename box, select "All Files", and append a ".inf" to the end of the filename. For some reason browsers don't download that link directly, but just render it in the browser window as a text file.

Can people list what NVIDIA driver they have installed with their CW + GEForce 330M?

This whole laptopvideo2go site is confusing.

Last week up on the right side it had 197.16 listed. This week it is 189.08 for Win 7/64-Bit.

The driver and INF file at the bottom of the page is 196.75, same as last week.

Checking the NVIDIA driver page for the GEForce 330M (which is now listed) shows 197.16.

Right now, I have 197.25 drivers installed found on the laptopvideo2go site. Not sure how I even got those to install since I have seen those are for desktop computers???

So, what driver do I want installed? 197.16, 189.08, 196.75, 197.16, or 197.25? LOL, slightly confused...

mcsdebravo, I have successfully made a clean install of Windows Ultimate. It's all working good now, about your problem regarding the Battery that makes it to hibernate I also encountered that problem. It comes out after installing Sony Notebook Utilities, what I did is install the next Sony, which is the Sony Shared Library and the problem doesn't show anymore. I also read in some threads here in this forum too, that you can just always disable the ISB Utility in the startup object via msconfig. Hope that helps.

Bluetooth driver failed to install but you can still use your bluetooth connection, right?

What I'm not sure is how many times did you install the driver #5 Sony Notebook Utilites v1.0?

    Is this how you did?
    01 - Intel Chipset Driver v9.1.1.1023
    02 - Intel SATA Driver v8.9.4.1004
    03 - Intel Turbo Boost v1.0.0.1030
04 - Sony FW Extension Parser Device Driver v8.0.1.1
    05 - Sony Notebook Utilites v1.0
**driver 05 failed to installed and laptop hibernated**
06 - Sony Shared Library v5.5.0.10160 then back to
    05 - Sony Notebook Utilites v1.0
    ** successfully installed the driver 05 **
    07 - NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M Video Driver v8.16.11.8783
08 - Realtek High Definition Audio Driver v6.0.1.5964

Re: Bluetooth, I'm not sure if it's working alright coz I haven't tried using it.

@Sony Notebook Utilities, I have installed it once. What I did was after installing it and got the Battery Error - needs to hibernate, I did not click anything to hibernate. I just ignored it, set the window pop up on the side and install the Sony Shared Library. After installing the Sony Shared Library, I restarted my system and everything went okay. The Battery problem - needs to hibernate didn't appear anymore.

So you didn't get any error when you installed the Sony Shared Library? Because when I installed the Sony Shared Library (different installation order) I got an error.
Also what are the features you get from Sony Shared Library?

Regarding your Bluetooth, you need to install ALPS Bluetooth Module before the bluetooth driver for it to work.

Hello, has anyone fixed successfully a bluetooth problem, when it does not find any external device?

I have Sony vaio CW (VPCCW2C5E), with Windows 7 Professional x64. Everything seems working fine except the internal bluetooth: when I turn it on, it makes a yellow exclamative triangle and says not to be able to acquire any device. I downloaded the latest broadcom driver (thanks for the link!) but it has changed nothing :(( I have even tried to use an external bluetooth on USB, and it does not work either! Indeed, I was trying to connect my Nokia 2630 which had been syncronyzing perfectly under XP. So, I guess the problem is the installation which does not make some part of drivers work, right? What schould I do: uninstall and reinstall all bluetooth drivers, install Toshiba stack and uninstall it, any other kind of e-magic? Thanks for ideas.

And another question: is it possible to connect an IRDA USB dongle under W7? I have Kingsun KS-959, always working perfect under XP and always "unknown" under W7. Oh, these innovations!..

Is that possible to migrate 64 OS to 32 bit?
I wanna change that 64 bit Win 7 Home Premium Edition to 32 bit or 32 bit Win 7 Professional, is that Sony provide that kinda service?

Is that Sony VAIO CW XP drivers are suitable for Win7 32bit Professional? because on the web has only 64bit Win7 and XP drivers, but now im using Win7 with 32bit, but all drivers are known right i think, anybody changed it like that?

Great thread!! I am planning on getting a bigger HD as 320 GB is not enough  Are all the drivers the same for the UK edition and US CW models. Also i have the i3-330m processor, would all the drivers still be the same??

i actually have 3 partitions, 1. recovery 2. system reserved (100mb), and 3. Primary. i went ahead and installed windows on the 3rd one which has the most space.

any input? should i have deleted the system reserved one as well?
