    Hi, kai here. I'm curious about this problem, several days ago, my vaio camera working smoothly. today I try to open the camera again. it prompt me this error
    "C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Camera Capture Utility\VAIOCameraCaptureUtility.exe

    The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail"

    From the other suggestion, they asked me to do sxstrace. the result, I have attached in this thread.

    In Application log
    //
    Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Camera Capture Utility\VAIOCameraCaptureUtility.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Camera Capture Utility\Microsoft.VC80.MFC.MANIFEST" on line 11. Component identity found in manifest does not match the identity of the component requested. Reference is Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762". Definition is Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50608.0". Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

    Did you install/uninstall anything or update anything before the camera stopped working?

    I don't have VAIO care, because I have installed new operating system in it which is vista business (previously vista home premium, due to the requirement in my work area). so when I install windows vista business, it deleted the VAIO care. anyway to get it back? thanks

    You could try a system restore to an earlier point to see if your camera works.

    Or just download a different camera capture app. There's a ton of them out there.
