    Hi!
    Just 2 quick questions:

    1. Is it possible to boot from an external drive connected via e-SATA or USB? I work as a developer and sometimes need to test the software on different operating systems. I often use Virtual-pC but sometimes I need a non-virtual environment.

    2. Is it very hard to replace the internal hard drive (for same reason as in 1)? Currently I use a Dell Latitude where it is very easy to swap hard drives, just loosen two screews and slide the hard drive bay.

I have sent a mail to Vaio support here in Sweden but I haven't got any answer :(

    Best regards Ulf

    1. Yes, this should be possible (although I haven't personally tried it).
    2. Super easy, just like your Dell.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried to figure out if there is some kind of compartment cover but the only I find in the User Manual is one for the RAM. Is there really a compartment cover for the hard drive also? Sorry, but I have no access to a physical Vaio, just the manuals at Sony's web site.

Yes, there's one at the bottom next to the headphone/optical-out. I replaced my HDD with a SSD in 2 minutes.

A lot better than some other VAIO's where I had to take the whole thing apart. :)

Thanks, I just ordered one! Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow. It was in stock and the company I ordered from usually delivers so we have the items the next day.
