Hi guys. I just ordered the new Vaio FS415S, which will arrive in about 2-3 weeks, and now Sony has announced the Vaio FE, which seems to be a really hot piece of a notebook.

Now I'm thinking about to cancel my order and wait fo the FE, but since there is no real information about it, I'm not really sure if it pays.
Some questions that are going through my mind are:

What about the graphics card? Is the GF 7400 Go much better than the 6400 Go, or is the difference just marginal?
What are the advantages of a dual core processor and does WinXP (Pro) support dual core processors?
Will the performance be much better than the performance of the FS?

Since there is no thread about the Vaio FE since now (expect the one with the pictures) I thought I just open one, because I really want to know more about it. :D

Is there nobody else, who is interrested in the Vaio FE series, or is there just no real information about it, that noone has replied yet? :(

    Here are the specs:

    Intel® Core™Duo Processor T2400/T2300 (1.83/1.66 GHz, 2 MB L2-Cache and 667 MHz FSB, 65 nm)
15,4“ WXGA (1280x800) X-black LCD with Double Lamp Technology
    1024 MB DDR2-533 SDRAM (PC2-3200) – max. 2048 MB
    100 to 160 GB Harddisk (S-ATA)
Super Multi Double Layer DVD±RW Laufwerk
    NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7400 with TurboCache™ supports 128MB
    Microsoft® Windows® Media Center Edition 2005
    WLAN 802.11 a/b/g und Bluetooth 2.0 (not VGN-FE11H)

I'm really excited to see the screen of it, as Sony claims, that you can even use it in bright day light:

people are not that enthusiastic b/c the components in the sepc sheets for the FE suck. It looks great, but apart from looks I also would like a good laptop....and the FE doesn't look like its going to be one.

1.66 GHz dual is a bit on the low side. WXGA for a 15.4" is just sad. and only 4200RPM HD drives won't get anyone jumping either.....

The spec sheet just has me confused... wherever I look I see different specs including between Sony sources... the spec sheet on SonyStyle just has to be wrong concerning the graphics and HDD... but the fact that the FE didn't have a Nvidia sticker on it and the SZ did at CES gives some credence to the spec sheet.

Back to SZ Series and the 13.3" petty screen then...

Maybe you can configure it and put it in? I mean why wouldnt Sony put it in?

I guess I'll have to order an FE from Europe because every Sony Europe site touts the FE as having an Nvidia 7400

    http://products.sony.co.uk/printer_vaio_fe_series.asp

    http://www.vaiopro.sony-europe.com/showcase/en/fe/

Generic Press Release found on a myriad of sites http://www.hardware-depot-online.com/sony_vaio_fe_series_the_entertainment_laptop_with_an_bgch.jspx

How fast does sony usually come out with follow up models? If they're not going to put some of the better features that have been touted about being in FE when it appears as though they will not be included in the first two from sonystyle.com.

If everything goes right I will get my Vaio FE11H in the next 1-2 weeks. I'll post a short review about it, when I get it.

My dealer (I live in Austria) said, that Sony told him he will get the Vaio FE notebooks in about a week (which was at monday).
But he just gets the FE11H.
