I'm looking to buy a laptop, and this one looks to be a good one for my needs. My sister's had 2 vaios (the 1st one got nicked but she got a better spec on insurance payout) and she's had no real problems with either. They also look the part. But when I go into stores I get referred to the Futijsu Siemens Amilo M series, which I hear has been getting rave reviews (though not got the Sonoma like the Sony).

What do other people think. I'm sure that both will perform reasonable, but there are other key factors (i.e. service & support). Can anyone share their experiences?

I tried 2 of the fs115b. They are very nice to look at, stylish, great screen. However, the wifi performance was poor, and I kept loosing signal when my wife, on our old laptop with a pc card was going strong. It was almost impossible to get thro to Vaio support in the UK.

Thought the keyboard was only so so, and they take up 6 gb of the hard drive with their software, convenient, but they don't deliver the 60 gb they sell. Also they use both memory slots withte 512, so upgrading involves wasting a memeory chip or two

One can always delete that recovery partition.

As far as two sticks go, yes they make upgrade a bit more expensive, but you do get better performance for it because of dual channel memory mode.

Don't know about Wi-Fi, haven't had any problems with mine.
