I charged my FW for 8 hours last night with the system turned off. When I booted up the system in the morning, the battery meter only shows 90% of capacity and stayed at 90% for 10mins then decreased gradually. I did however set the Battery Charge Function to 80% capacity in order to preserve the battery, does this 90% have anything to do with that ? My understanding is that the Battery care function's 80% setting only deals with charging with AC plugged in. Is that correct ?

Does anyone know what happened ? Thanks.

The battery meter isent always correct.
    Try recalibrating the battery:
Shut off the computer, boot it into bios, and let notebook run until it dies... Then fully recharge it..
    That should fix the problem.

The only reason I said boot into bios, is because its not effected by the windows battery options (It won't shut off at 5%, or w/e you have it set at, it'll discharge it all the way).

Not sure about battery care, but it shouldn't screw with the windows meter like that.

it just surprises me that a brand-new FW would have incorrect battery meter reading 1 week since received already !

It may take a while for things to get calibrated and battery meters are not foolproof. But I'm pretty sure that if you've set battery care to 80% then you won't be charging your battery fully anyway.

Should just going into the BIOS and full dischage help? I have no spetial menu item in the bios about the calibration. So I only can leave bios settings open untill full discharge. Not sure if it will help.

(I have "lost" the calibration after BIOS upgrade)

    Hi folks,

just got my Z590 few days ago. Had similar problem with battery charge, and found solution: I have been playing with battery care option (first NO, than 80%, than 50%, than back to 80%, and then back to NO battery care). I haven't restarted my computer at that time as I was partitioning/formating/copying at that time. So my battery went up to 93% then DOWN to 92,91,90%. In the morning battery charge indicator was still charging and battery was at 90%. I have shut down my computer, restart, and then it was finally fully charged to 100% and stopped charging. What a relief to me!. I believe this is related to software when you "play around" with battery settings rather than battery issue itself.

If you don't have the battery care function enabled, then it probably is a drain/discharge issue.

If this issue happening this problem might cause by the battery care function. When you say "Decrease Gradually" how fast is you battery decreasing.

Yes ! you're Correct the setting deals only on charging limit.

Um... Google is your friend! You should never discharge a lithium ion battery completely. That will permanently damage the battery. All you have to do is discharge the battery until it goes to sleep IN WINDOWS. That will leave like 5 percent of charge. The battery will know that means that it has hit bottom and calibrate itself accordingly.
