Hi!
I've been on the market for a new laptop forever now. Im one of those suckers who have been waiting for the new XPS series from Dell which will never be released.
The laptop I've been looking for is:
No larger then 16"
Portable enough to take to and from school everyday.
+ if it can play new games.
+ if it has Blueray player
+ if it has good battey life
- Loud and heavy.
I'm a engenering student. We dont use any "heavy" applications really, but I need the computer everyday.
I've heared alot of good things about the Sony Vaio FW21Z with the ATI-3650. I know its not a gamer laptop, but how does the laptop perform when it comes to gaming?
Can you convince me that I would be buying a good product?![]()
Thanks, and have a good day!

what is good battery life according to you? the FW will not get more than 3 hours on the ati card and the standard battery.

Well 2 hours+ is good enough for me. So 3 hours is a plus

Chris I like you have been waiting for the new Dell. Given up now basically Dell have really messed up this time. I would like to get a Sony but to be honest none of them really suit me either. I must be very picky.
Currently have Dell 8500 (6 odd years old now!!). So next laptop likely to last me same sort of time. Not going to rush into it.
I was in the Sony shop the other day and you know what the FW is a really ugly laptop. I had pretty much decided it was the one for me but make sure you see it in the flesh before buying it.
Cost for me not an issue I just want something that does everything I need but looks the part too.
I think I will sit this out until Jan now and see if anything gets launched then -
I have the above laptop(sony vaio vgn-fw21z) and I am thinking to replace its hdd drive with a solid state drive(corsair extreme X128).
Does anybody knows if this laptop supports sata2?
Is there any instructions or videos that show how to replace the hdd?
Thank you very much! -
I already ordered corsair extreme X128 and I'll have it by tomorrow!
