My FZ290 has the same specs as yours and also gets hot in the places you posted. I dont think you have to worry about it. Just make sure your not blocking the intake for the CPU cooling on the bottom.

I also had a Dell that used to get even hotter than this and it didnt even have anywhere near the power this does. Just enjoy it.

Download and install Core Temp http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
and tell us what is your CPU temperature. If it is not too hot, you don't need to worry.

thanks everyone for all the replies.

    hard drive rpm: 5400

    core 1/2: 47/48 (ranges between 43 C to 65 C depending on use)

does the graphics card make the temp of the laptop go up?

I have the same temps. Mine sometimes gets over 50 C when its on my lap. My legs sometimes cover the vents. Also I always have the Power Plan on Power Saver.

It's a computer. It's going to get warm. It may even get very warm, especially at 2.2 GHz. Is it so hot that it's uncomfortable? That probably shouldn't happen, but it may still be normal.
