OK - could the FZ folks chime back in on 64-bit - seems this went off in many directions. I am thinking about trying 64-bit out before I really get my new FZ in daily work operations. It looks like Bapt was successful on an SZ.

This thread is about a 64 bit Vista install on an FZ model not an SZ. Please do not hijack a thread to ask about a different model. Find another thread that is about the SZ or start a new thread.

Okay, so I have everything working minus the fn keys for brightness and magnification. Has anyone figured it out for FZ190 (and not any other model)?

I just got sound to work through headphones:
    1. http://legroom.net/software/uniextract
    2. ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/DOWNLOADS/ST/D/AUD/STDAUD-01487701-UN.EXE
    3. Extract & install!

Fully functional fn keys would be nice... very nice.

BTW, dualbooting with OS X Leopard 10.5.3 works great with FZ190~ (tried it out for educational purposes). It took me a whole day to figure out everything, but it was worth it.

works like a charm. But I can't find "VAIO Event Service" and
"VAIO Smart Network". I checked the 64 driver site serveral times
    but nothing.
Could anyone help me please?? Bapt wrote he found these two packackes
    at http://www.vaio-link.com/os/vista/64bit, but where?

    Thanks in advance

I am trying to make my SZ670N working with x64 and a lot of info was helpful. Looks like I only need a webcam driver and a proper one for audio (it's working as a hi def audio but does not look like a full support).
I did not try to enable my Sprint module yet as well.

Does anyone know the definitive way to get the FN and S1 keys working? Also, teenymeenie, can you list a little bit more info on driver version and the model number of the devices they are for? Because I've seen different model number for the Sony Camera, Media Card Reader, and the Touchpad and I just wanted to make sure that these are either universal or compatible with other models. Thanks.

Extract (using Uniextract) 64-bit drivers of VGN-FW-390 for SFEP, Notebook utilities and Sony shared library to get the Fn keys working.

Thanks coolguy that REALLY helped out. Now, I only have one lingering issue/question/problem. I have the S1 button on front and I'm trying to program it to do well whatever I wanted like I could before when I had Vista 32bit. So now when I hit that button it brings up a similar dialog box like before except the "S1" Button" section doesn't have any options for setting it up. Any ideas?

I wonder if there is some sort of hotkey software that we can use to to map that specific button?

So i know this thread is old but heres the thing.... Im poor and can't afford a new laptop. Great news, my fz still works perfect! ok so now with the problem...

Since I can't afford to get a new laptop, Im gunna just go ahead and make a few upgrades to this one. I'm gunna go ahead and dish out the few bucks for 4 gigs of ram, so that I can get 64 bit windows 7 on here. I got windows 7 x86 working no problem, it works fine if you upgrade (when i tried to clean install i ran into a few problems with brightness keys not consistently working). so I'm going to do the same thing with the x64 os. i want to clean install vista x64 on here so that i can upgrade to windows 7 and not run into any problems. instead of running around the net trying to gather up all of the drivers and such to get my computer functioning properly, i was wondering if the people that have already successfully put x64 vista on there fz could help me out. im not looking for a 4 hour tutorial just an overview on where they got all the drivers and maybe a few links, and certain problems to watch out for that they ran into. any help would be great.
    thanks

This thread is for the FZ series. You can search the other threads specific to X64 installation in the SZ.
