With the help of this forum, it was quite easy to install XP on my FZ. Everything is working and what I can tell you is that this thing flies now!!! But there is one "but" (as always): the brightness keys (or some way to control this through software). Anybody got this working in XP? Because it cuts battery life big time.

Don't you think it's strange from Sony to publish the drivers and utilities for everything else but not this? How much do you think M$ paid them to drop the XP support?

actually I was very disappointed with my fz180e when it had vista and I started being comfortable with it after the install of xp. Today I have dual boot vista and xp both and every time I boot into vista is just to confirm how much I prefer xp. All this to say that it would really be nice if the little fn keys missing issue on xp could be solved.
I hope people here will help to get the word to Sony and also maybe search for a fix solution ourselves!

Ihave gottne the brightness control to work. I had to get a revised video driver from a site that had a modified mv4_disp.info file and installed the newest driver and all fn keys worked.
I though have a problem getting the sd card to work, it works under Vista, but will not read my cards under winxp. is there a trick or driver?

I have gotten this to work and my FZ has great battery life almost 30 minutes more than on Vista.
I downloaded and attached the file.

replace this file on the forced version of Nvidia drivers 17474. the site is labtopvideotogo.com. serach for sony vaio fz2 nvidia driver. Pieter's inf file.

    It works very well.
