I have a sony vaio laptop model number VGNSZ370P and i've recently had to reinstall the OS back onto the laptop. I've managed to get everything installed except now i cannot get the laptop to recognize the ethernet port on my docking station. I have two docking stations both model VGP-PRSZ1 in two different locations and both are not picking up ethernet when in the dock. I tried reinstalling the ethernet drivers 2-3 times to no avail. The laptop works with no issues when i plug the ethernet cable directly into the laptop though.

    Would appreciate any help.

    Thanks!

we had the same issue. the laptops use two different nics. one when docked and one undocked. you need to install the driver for the nic it uses when its docked. sony's support site should have both drivers.

thats what i thought but when you look up the docking station on sony's site there are no drivers listed for the model.

Also when i called Sony they told me the dock was Plug and Play.

    More like Plug and Pray.

its not the docking station its the drivers for the ethernet card, for some reason the docs have different network adaptors, the laptop itself should have the drivers for the different network cards, i found my machine was a 10/100 and the dock was a 10/100/1000 .. dunno why the machine is limited.. but might help you spot the different drivers required.

i've looked on sonys site for drivers for the SZ dock .. they have nothing available or something like that

If either of you could provide a link where your finding these dock drivers that would be appreciated.

This is what im getting - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGPPRSZ1&LOC=3

and its telling me that there are no available drivers/software available for download for this docking station.

and only one ethernet driver for the laptop model - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNSZ370P

    under the network section
