Does anyone have any experience with this model. I purchased it in July 2009 and have numerous sofware issues. It is running on Vista Ultimate. I am considering upgrading the op system to Windows 7. Does anyone know if it is compatible and also is it worthwhile to upgrade.

It shouldn't be a problem. Win7 is fully supported.

get the drivers here: Sony eSupport - VGN-SR390 - Software Updates & Drivers

I would do a clean install instead of upgrading over vista which means back up everything you want to keep, then when installing win7, let it format the vista (c :) partition. ya it will totally wipe the hard drive but will run better in the long run. you also wont have any of the sony pre-installed bloatware to deal with.

after you install win7, install the sony drivers from that website in this order:
(they need to be installed in the correct order)

utilities, utilities update, shared library, firmware extention parson, hdd protection, both memory card drivers, bluetooth, fingerprint scanner driver, audio drive
