Hello... I recently bought a Sony Vaio NW310F model. Shortly after I bought it, I noticed a "whirring" noise coming from the laptop. The noise is not overly loud, but if you sit within 5 feet of the laptop, you can hear it. The noise is almost like a heartbeat ... it gets louder and then stops and then gets louder and then stops ... with about 2 seconds in between. It makes this noise with the AC adapter plugged in OR if it's on battery. It doesn't happen all the time, but it seems to happen when the laptop has been running for a while.

Any ideas? Is this likely the fan, and if so, is there a problem or is this normal? I've called Sony, and they weren't real helpful. I have a technician scheduled to come out soon to check it out. Thanks for any info!
