I receive this laptop off my friend who doesn't know a the startup password in the start screen. When i turn it on it says sony vaio then it goes straight to a password screen. the screen is black but there is a blue box asking fo a password. I've tried to press esc and alt s ect when it starts up but it comes up with phionex bios setup scren again asking for a password. I think someone has set this password so it can't get hacked easily. I'm wondering if there is anyway to overide it pleeeeeeeeeeez help

You should ask your friend to sort it out for you. Any laptop owner that has the experience and knowledge to set up a BIOS password would usually also know how important it is to have that password written down somewhere, or have a way of resetting it.
On a completely unrelated note: 1,600 laptops are stolen every day in the USA. Better set those BIOS passwords, people
