    Hello everyone!

Let me start by saying I am in no way shape or form a computer genius. I can however search the internet for whatever I might need to, in this case, a solution to my Sony's screen.

I picked up a Sony Vaio (model PCG-932A) at a pawn shop recently, (won't do that again) and it works well except for the fact that theirs a big triangle of white in my top right corner of my screen. I sort of noticed it in the pawn shop but didn't think much of it...Anyway, $125 (was $169) later, and I have a laptop that has a messed up screen, only one working USB port, (a 1.1 at that) and a bunch of junk files all over the place...Argh.

Anyway, the problem with my screen doesn't seem to me to be dead pixels. It does, however, go away when I apply moderate pressure on the screen. If I could have it look like that all the time it would be great but unfortunately I have to have two hands to type!

What I'd like to know is what is the best solution for this problem othe rthan to just live with it...(I've already consdiered getting an external monitor, but...)

Also, I need some help with my internet connection. I haven't found much to help me on other websites, so I was hoping you guys could. We have a Netgear Range-Max Wireless router hooked to our DSL modem. We now have wi-fi around the house. What I'd like to know is if I can get any old cheap usb adapter and use it to access my network? Or do I need the $60 one form Netgear?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
    Tyler.

Hello. I believe the problem you have is called a "pressure spot", caused by a great deal of pressure put on the LCD, like someone sitting on it, etc. I re-furbish Sony Vaio Laptops and could put a good screen on it for you, if you wanted to spend the money. I have many good used parts and accessories for these laptops. Unfortunately, shipping both ways alone would cost you $19 in USPS Medium Flat Rate boxes. The lowest price I could repair this for you would be $50. If you are uncomfortable with doing this with no security, we could go thru eBay for all the financial aspects; I would put a "Buy-It-Now" listing on eBay for laptop repair at $50 and send you the URL right away. Regards; Benjamin.
