    Hi all,

I have been having a problem with my wife's Sony Vaio PCG-9S1L laptop. The power supply cord recently wouldn't power the laptop when connect as it still would only be working off the battery. When I turn it off, it charges the battery but when I turn it on, the system would be running on battery juice.

I thought it was a defective power cord and bought one of the Targus multi use power cords but till the same issue. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm guessing an internal issue, inside the notebook. If your laptop is still under warrenty you should give Sony a call. If not, you can go to Sony for repairs or find a local repair shop.

No idea how much it will cost, probably just a minor fix.

I've got the same problem with the same model, did you have any luck getting it fixed?

My laptop is a Sony SZ7 but model number is a PCG-6W1M.
What is the generic name of your laptop?
Some people will not recognise it by the model number so will not be able to help.

Mine is actually a PCG-K33 per the lower right of the monitor. The label on the bottom says Model PCG-9S1L, but from what I've seem browsing around, that covers a number of laptops in the K series. I've also noticed that the monitor occasionally changes brightness when moved.
