I just got a used Vaio for my Grandson. It runs window 98.
    I am having a problem.
The computer works fine with AC Adapter but that is it.
Have two batteries and both are fully charged.
    Problem:
    1. When I try to turn on the Computer sometimes the Computer shows the Sony on the Screen and then goes dead other times, it does nothing.
    2. I have to restart without a battery in either case.
    3. It will not start in the AC mode with a Battery Installed.

Is this a easy fix or is it fixable at all without sending to sony?

Any help or recommendations for a diagnostic check would be helpful. The person that I got the computer from swears that there was nothing wrong with the computer.

All that was done was a teardown to clean all the gunk off the switches.

Is it possible that my daughter did something while cleaning.

Note: Prior to her cleaning, it would not turn on at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
