A good thing with those touchscreen might be the additionnal sturdiness of the lid.

Indeed an issue with previous Vaio X and Z (and many other slim computers) was the the fact that the keyboard was touching the screen when the notebook was under slight pressure, ultimately damaging the screen.

So I am wondering if the glass on the Vaio Pro touchscreen is like a Gorilla Glass, that is to say resistant to scratches, or if it's a kind of polycarbonate like on the PS Vita for instance.

    Does any one know ?

Most touch screen are made by glass.
You may heard there are many touch screens CRACKED.
I think VAIO Pro touch screen is not an exception.

Lots of broken glass indeed !

But these cracks are often accidental, because of a shock or a lot of pressure.

I was more afraid of scratches caused by the use of the touchscreen, or transporting the computer in a tight case...

Glass will scratch if it touches to anything harder than its hardness.
So, I don't think any key should be able to scratch the glass.
However, it would be better if you have a piece of microfiber between LCD and keyboard if you are worry about it.

In fact, the Vaio Pro ships with a microfiber cloth placed between the keyboard and display. Use that if you're worried when transporting the laptop.

That's exactly the point of my question, I would like to know if the glass is as hard as Gorilla Glass, or if it's just a kind polycarbonate. :p

With an Alienware M11X, I had the bad surprise to discover scratches on the kind of glass on top of the screen, just by cleaning it with a (slightly wet) microfiber cloth.

And with Vaio Z21, I needed a screen protector to prevent it from getting keyboard marks like one of my colleague suffered (in a few days of transport).

Moreover, I had to get a special cover case (VGP-CVZ3, kindly offered by Sony) in order to protect the lid and bottom from scratches, and making it sturdier.

Of course I had the Vaio's microfiber cloth, but transporting the notebook with it was not practical (and I was afraid to lose it). And without the screen protector, it was still necessary to use that cloth in order to protect the screen from keyboard marks, even with the special case.

Therefore, my conclusion was that the Z was an amazing ultra portable, but having to transport it with a cloth and a cover case to protect it from damage was dramatically diminishing that portability.

In fact, the "intentional" flexibility that Sony is promoting is likely the cause of most LCD bruises caused on the Z21-23 series.

So I am wondering if this problem is resolved, otherwise I think a Panasonic AX3 might be a better choice for travellers (minus the backlit keyboard, the screen quality, and the esthetics of course).

Most non touchscreen LCDs has a polarized plastic-like sheet outer most, so it will be scratched by any other things that touch to it.
If you peel it, you can see anything on LCD.
Touchscreen LCD is different. LCD panel and touchscreen are two separate parts. The outer most is touchscreen glass, so it is really hard to have scratch unless you want it to.
