I've clean installed Windows 8 Pro, and for a while the keyboard backlight worked as expected... however a bios update changed the default behavior and I REALLY don't want to have to do a system recovery to get the option to change it. Being I'm clean installed I only have the essential Vaio drivers on my machine... Any-who I pretty much installed everything I could find from the download page, I have the Vaio Control Care app working, and it shows all the options EXCEPT for keyboard backlight control.

I'm about to tear my hair out trying to figure out how to change it... It's driving me nuts... Any help guys?

    Thanks,
    Rich

For reference, my machine is: SVP13213CXB (Sony Vaio Pro 13 Haswell)

For reference... if anyone else runs into the problem, just re-install the sony shared library. Came right up, didn't have to reboot... I could have sworn, I've installed that already! Some places I've read mentioned that it needed to be installed in a specific order... not sure... but it's working now!!

Stupid drivers... why can't they make it easy!!

Edit: And literally 2 minutes later... it's gone again... Rebooted, and it's still gone... wth?!?!

Run vaio control center if it's not installed install it first. It is in vaio control center > under Keyboard and mouse settings > Backlight. It is at least on windows 7, so make sure you have vaio control center installed for windows 8.

This reminds me of my experience with my Sony Vaio SZ3. Driver support was rubbish 7 years ago, and even today they fail to address their software. The new Sony will fail if this continues, customers are no longer oblivious to technology and seek out reviews and opinions from other people.
