Hi, I recently bought a Sony Vaio Pro 13 with the i7, 8GB ram and 256GB SSD with the Matte Display. For now I think it's brilliant: the display is beautiful, no real WIFI problems, touchpad is fine. I like the keyboard and the weight of it.
However I think i do have a problem with the display. When my Vaio Pro 13 starts up, i noticed there are some bright purple spots in the lower left quadrant of the display

When I view something black/dark blue/grey I also see these spots. I first thought it was some smear on the screen, but I am really sure these spots are in the display. These marks are hardly seeable when I am viewing bright content on my display.

I've already searched the internet for people with similar problems, but I have not seen anyone who had the same problem. Does anyone no the problem. And what should I do with my notebook?

    Stan

That is called backlight bleed and typical of ips panels.

That's the ever popular IPS Backlight Bleeding Glow. You should be happy because lookin at that pic, your bleeding glow is so minor. Funny though I don't see the bleeding glow my Ipad Air or the RMBP of my coworker but for some reason, the windows laptops I had from last year all with IPS display (Alienware 14, Clevo W230ST, Acer V7-482pg, Acer v5-122p) all had minor to severe IPS Glow. I dunno if this is a quality control thing with Windows Computer Manufacturer where they don't tighten them up, allowing light to leak etc...

That is my actual problem. The backlight bleeding does not bother me at all. It are the purple/bright spots on the lower left quadrant of my screen that irritate me. So far I have not seen a post of somenone who had a similar problem.
Except for the bright spots, I am really satisfied by the display quality. Sony asked me to make a picture of it and send it to them.

The lcd panel must be damaged some how, is there any scratches or dints where the purple marks are? , You should get the notebook repaired or replaced, do they show when windows is booting?

There are no scratches or dints visible where the purple marks are. I made this particular picture while booting the notebook, so yes they are visible during boot up (excluding a driver problem). It must be a defective display then, thought otherwise (and with bright content) it is not really visible..

Ah, didn't see that part. That's called a bruise. I had that on a couple IPS panels. Send it back.

I made contact with Sony and they will pick it up and repair it/replace it. Finger crossed it will not take too long. I was already in love with it after using it for less than a week. Now working on my 4 year old Sony F11 feels like a punishment (speaking about a loud fan!)
