    Hi,
i have a sony vaio notebook with the os vista home premium.
It came with only one partition which i am plannig to resize to add another couple.
My question is the following, if in the future i will want to recover my computer, using the recovery tool, will i lose all the new partitions and the data included in them or it will only revert the windows partition? (at the moment there is only a C:\ partition, where windows is installed)

    Thank you for help,

    Nite

The recovery partition..you cannot see...however its better for your to burn the cd out...

When you reinstall the OS...you will see the recovery partition (other then C: drive as label)...be sure you know what you're doing as it can be delete during the installation...

If you dont touch it..and just repartition C: drive that you have...then you have no fear of touching it...but you might need vaio recovery center to get whatever drive you need from the recovery partition (which is on the cd you burn usually)...

You really need to play around...but that's much or less how it goes

I already tried this one...I used the Vaio Recovery Center to bring back the original factory setting. Only Drive C is affected. The other partition is not deleted. Originally, I only have one partition (drive C). I used Paragon Partition Manager to create a new partition (Drive D) so I can put all my data on drive D and leave drive C for the system (O/S).

Sony recovery tool will restore the image to only 1 partition, which is C:, and has no effect at all to others.

For your case, you can have any file in other partitions, besides C:. So, whenever you want to restore to factory default state, you can be sure of your data safety.
