The disclaimer (copied and modified from http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/641671-sony-vaio-sa-sb-sc-se-advanced-menu-bios-hack.html) :
There is no warranty or support at all. Don't use this if you are unexperienced with computers. All you do with this BIOS is on your own risk! Flashing is a dangerous process. Make backups of your data. Your warranty may void with flashing this hack. All settings in BIOS get stored in the flash rom. Disconnecting the RTC battery will NOT reset the BIOS settings since they are non-volatile. If you fail, there is no return since BIOS recovery is unavailable to new sony laptops.
The only thing changed from the BIOS is only on the GT640M LE, the rest remain.
BUT STILL, PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND TAKE OWN RESPONSIBILITY!
PROCEDURE :
-Unzip the downloaded file.
-Run the InsydeFlash file.
-WAIT until it finishes flashing!
-Restart your laptop.
-Have fun!
ADDITIONAL INFO 1 :
You may experience that when you run benchmark, games, or any application, but your Clock seems to be not at par as the Base clock.
Please follow the instructions
Make sure you set to priority to ventilation :
AND :
Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3d Settings -> Select the app you want to run full clock -> Select high performance nvidia processor on the option 2 -> Select Prefer Maximum Performance for the Power management mode.
OR
Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3d Settings -> Global Settings -> Select Prefer Maximum Performance for the Power management mode.
Now, all the app should run in Maximum clock.
You should be able to run at full clock afterwards.
ADDITIONAL INFO 2:
Currently there is a bug with GPU-Z, it will make your clock stays at FULL even when not doing anything(gaming, benchmark, etc).
The only way for your clock to stay or goes back to idle(135) is by closing the GPU-Z when not using it OR open up MSI AB at the same time if you want the GPU-Z to remain in the background.
This will definitely saves your battery when you're not plugged in.

what does this bios do?
-
It increase the base clock of the GT640M LE.
There are 4 version :
625MHz
735MHz
835MHz
950MHzlewdvig likes this. -
is it a permanent overclock? ie, everything my system boot it will run at that clock? or it merely raises the upper limit?
-
But in idle it will still run as usual (135MHz).
Something wrong with the Boost features.
It just wont work.
The modder need more time to figure that out.
Depend on which MOD, the temp raised from 4c to 7c.lewdvig likes this. -
i dont see the attachment or link. Where is that bios collection?
-
Will this mod work on my model i.e. SVS15116GNB?
-
Faceless Rebel Notebook Consultant
I'll test this out. The base clock being 950mhz is pretty funny, if your GPU can't handle it and something in your boot sequence makes it clock up to the 3D clocks, your laptop will immediately crash I bet.
-
Don't want to distribute to everyone yet.
Need to know whether it work for atleast 2 person.
It works on mine, doesn't mean it work on some.lewdvig likes this. -
Faceless Rebel Notebook Consultant
Okay, I have downloaded the BIOS files from CA and US sections of Sony sites. The MD5 checksums match, these files are identical.
-
Have a look at your PM.
Thanks. -
2 bad don't have my S13P yet
-
I would be down but I'd need a nice walkthrough to idiot-proof me from bricking my S13p. Are there any special tools I'd need?
-
Yeah, I'd be interested in a walk-through too for my S15. Just got it, and the last thing I want to do is brick it.
-
If hes running 950mhz bios then its pretty much foolproof to run 735mhz version for sure.
Flashing itself is very straight forward and easy. -
-
Unzip the file that I will give.
Run the file, wait until it finishes flashing.
Restart your laptop.
That is all.
May I know what is your exact model? Example : SVS13A15GGBlewdvig likes this. -
Oh!
I thought maybe we'd have to flash it ourselves or something.
My Model # is SVS13A190X. I'd be willing to try 835mhz and below unless you would say 935mhz is still almost a guaranteed safe.
The only room for error here is the power going out during flashing right? The process itself won't have a bug and maim my expensive new laptop? D:
Edit: But of course my S13P isn't supported yet. :'( goodbye super gaming performance. -
Sony eSupport - SVS13A190X - Support
It is the same MD5 Checksum.
Means that you can use it on your laptop.lewdvig likes this. -
I will put it on my S15 as soon as i get it. It has still not arrived. -
Hey Amal,
Is it possible to use afterburner to underclock to save battery life when not gaming? -
Amal,
Will this work with my model number - SVS13A12FX/B? Thx! -
It will work on any s13 or s15 2012 model.
-
Amal - can you PM me, looks like I don't have enough post to PM you, I would like to give it a shot....
-
I'll also give it a shot on my S15 2012 model, PM me if you want.
Also does this get us any closer to accessing Advanced BIOS on 2012 models? -

GPU clock: 705/1100
Amal77 sent me the "735" BIOS but for whatever reason my GPU only goes to 705mhz on it. But it seems this BIOS does work and it does raise the base GPU clock, in this case the new base GPU clock was 570mhz but all scaling locks were disabled so I was able to scale it right to 570mhz + 135mhz = 705mhz in MSI Afterburner.
I would be interested in testing the 2 higher clocked BIOSes as well. -
Does this BIOS mod only work for the 2GB 640m LE? My S13A only has 1GB of VRAM.
-
BUT, it won't always stay at the Base Clock all the time, coz it will still goes down back to 135MHz when not in used (idle).
So, you will still save your battery if you did not do any gaming. -
-
-
No, nothing to do with the unlocking of the Advanced BIOS options.
-
For those who I already distributed the BIOS and face the same issue as above, please follow the below workaround.
Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3d Settings -> Select the app you want to run full clock -> Select high performance nvidia processor on the option 2 -> Select Prefer Maximum Performance for the Power management mode.
Thanks.

Amal - Is there another way to get it from you? Maybe a link?

GPU clock: 950/1050
This was verified by 20 minutes of MSI Kombustor before I ran 3DMark11. The GPU only reached 75C during testing.
At this point I'm not even going to refer to it as a 95% overclock. That is just not possible for a part which was actually designed to run much slower. Instead, I'm going to come to the realization that Nvidia is binning their mobile Kepler parts and the stock 500/900 clock of GT 640M LE is a massive underclock for the GK107 GPU core. I'm merely restoring the potential of this GPU core by running a modded BIOS which unlocks the normal clocks that this GPU was designed to use from the beginning by Nvidia.
And now, a brief discussion of OCing mobile Kepler.
The base 3D clock of Kepler has 2 domains. There is the "normal" 3D clock, which you will see if you set Power Management to "Adaptive" in the Nvidia Control Panel. There is the "Boost" 3D clock, which you will see if you set it to "Prefer maximum performance" in NCP. These BIOS only set the Boost clock, to 625/735/825/950 mhz. So if you flash these BIOS, you will be using the "normal" domain by default which is actually 570mhz 3D clock. If you use MSI Afterburner or whatever, you can at most add +135mhz to that which is 705mhz. In any case, the 2D/Aero clock is always 135/405.
In order to actually get 735/825/950mhz 3D clock, you need to make it use the Boost clock, and the way to do that is to set Prefer maximum performance instead of Adaptive. So these BIOS are essentially foolproof, you have to change a setting in NCP to make it use the highest clock and if you don't you will be running at 570mhz + up to 135mhz = up to 705mhz using software OCing tools.
Note that the Boost clock cannot be altered by software OCing tools like MSI Afterburner. So whichever BIOS you flash, 735/825/950, that is the highest 3D clock you can use. At this point I don't see why anyone will flash anything other than the 735/825/950 BIOS because the Kepler core is just stupid, Nvidia has designed a mobile GPU core which is capable of incredible speeds on a 28nm process which gives it incredible power efficiency as well.
At 950mhz the core was working the memory so hard that I had to back down the memory OC from 1100 to 1050 because I was getting artifacting from the memory in MSI Kombustor. -
I'll test it on my S13P, it has the 1GB card
-
Rebel, any possibility of you doing some benchmarks with some games - BF3, whatever?
-
Guess I can share it with everyone then.
Everyone! Please proceed to the first page for the download link!
Have fun you all! -
at the end of the flash, does the program have another popup message? Mine closes and there is no more window.
-
Restart your laptop after that. -
Well I went from a 6.8 to 6.9 in WEI with the 950Mhz BIOS haha, have yet to do 3dmark
-
k, will test with 3d mark 11 now I guess.
-
So I am assuming with these insane overclocks 1GB VRAM could become an issue? I know at stock clocks 1GB wont matter, but at 650M clocks and higher in game settings 1GB might not cut it in Metro 2033 and BF3
Sent from my GT-I9100 -
OK, please excuse my ignorance, but I flashed the bios and when I rebooted nothing seems to have changed....I changed the power preference in NCP but everything seems to be exactly as before. I am only able to OC up to the 135, do I need to do something else to overclock it more or should it do it by itself. Reason i ask is I ran 3dmark and got the same score as before the bios update.

Running around a bit in Diablo III only in Act 1, I was seeing 45-50 fps in 1080p resolution with all settings maxed including Shadows set to High (Smooth) and no AA. I should really play more Diablo III so I can test in Act 3/4. -
Odd... I got a GPU score of 1272... Core clock was at 405mhz. O_O
forum support activate? D:
EDIT: It said it found a problem with unauthorized drivers. I believe that I'm running on the 304 beta drivers right now. Can I downgrade to 301 or something and hope for another result? -
What matters to me is the Speed of the memory.
DDR3 sucks!
What does GPU-Z tells you?
Mind to share a screenshot? -
