    Hi All,
    First Post.....

    I recently bought a Sony Vaio VPCS117GGB.
    Specs: Core i5 520, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, Geforce 310, 2Kgs.

Coming from a Macbook Pro this laptop is quite similar to the unibody macbooks (except the size and battery life). However there are a few annoyances with this Sony.

    1) When i close the lid the notebook goes to sleep, however when I open the lid, unless I press any button, windows does not wake up. Is there a way to enable this?

    2) Any brightness controls for the backlit keyboard? Its too bright in total darkness and is quite distracting when looking at a screen

    3) Can a WWAN card be installed in this series? I read in one magazine that its got built in 3G but cant see any.

Any help will be appreciated thanks!

I've got a Z but maybe this will help... searching may reveal the results you want, you can also post in the S-series owners' thread :)

Try Vaio Control Center > Power Management > Lid Action Settings

Are you in the states? I've been looking for a Sony Vaio S Series in that type of configuration.

I can only get the S through Best Buy with no dedicated graphics. AHH.

    Hi TofuTurkey,

Thanks for the reply, I checked the Power Management in Vaio Control Center but I could only see the 'Settings for the behaviour when closing the lid'. Theres nothing about opening the lid.
    btw I'm in Australia.
