    Hi guys!

Does anybody here have any idea whether Sony is planning on releasing an S/SZ/SXX series laptop with Blu-Ray recordable drive built-in as well as a HDMI (1.3) output to use it as a Blu-Ray player too? (S/PDIF would be nice too for that price)

This is the only main reason I'm still waiting to purchase an S-serie laptop and I'm sure a lot of other potential customers are too :)

Also do the current SZ-Series now have Gigabit Ethernet or are they still 100mbps max only? I feel this is one thing (if still 100mbps) Sony is still lagging in quite a while already, behind other notebook manufacturers...

I think these 2 are the only missing features which would make the S-series complete. Santa-Rosa platform on the S-series will undoubtedly come soon so I'm not too worried about that.

I doubt Blu-Ray will be announced on an SZ anytime soon, but we can hope.

As for Gigabit Ethernet...I haven't found anything regarding that. The UK pre-order for the SZ5 still uses the RJ-45 direct port Ethernet 10 BASE-T/100 BASE-TX, the same as the SZ4s. However, the port replicator (docking station) does list a Gigabit Ethernet port...so you may want to consider that.

SZ has a so called Super Slim internal dvd drive, i.e. it's 9.5 mm height instead of 12.5 mm. There is no Super Slim Blue-Ray drive on the market yet, so there is no chance that SZ5 has one.

Thanks for the replies guys. Really hope Sony will work on one of those Super Slim BR drives for the next S Series release :)
