The LCD panel on the 2012 Vaio S13 Premium has a rather poor contrast ratio and odd anti reflective finish that makes whites look fuzzy. I am considering replacing the stock LCD with a better aftermarket LCD (if I can find a compatible one). In order to do this I need the exact model number of the LCD that is located on its backside. I was wondering if anyone has disassembled the laptop and knows the LCD model number.

    Thank You

There aren't many good 13" displays out there - the S13P's is already better than most. The only one I can think of offhand is the 1080p one in the ASUS UX series and I doubt that'll fit in the Vaio. The Vaio Z's display would be ideal but it's a 13.1", not 13.3".

I understand a replacement LCD will fairly similar. However, I am a bit of a gambler :D In any case, I still need that model number.

Hey aymanhaq, did you ever find out what LCD panel we could use in the S13A ?

Just bought the laptop, and I gotta say that the screen is garbage. People say the S13A (premium) has a better screen than the S13 (non premium), I just can't imagine how must look the non premium screen then!!!

Previous to this S13A, I've been using a MacBook Pro from 2007, it has a matte screen with LED backlight and 1440*900 resolution. It was a basic TN panel from Samsung LTN154BT. The colors were on the yellowish, but with calibration I could correctly correct this.

Now here I am on thie S13A fuzzy, grainy colors, it isn't sharp. Plus, there's more glare than the matte screen I used to have on my old laptop. It looks like the Vaio screen is a glossy screen with an anti-glare film applied on it, which could explain the grainy colors and the more glare I get. Oh and viewing angles really sucks on this display, never though I would have had viewing angles problem on a 13 inches display...

I need to find a replacement panel, my eyes are crying, the grainy white makes reading stuff harder, I get tired faster.

Look in the Vaio S owners thread (around page 565-575) for someone who swapped the stock LCD for an LG IPS panel.

I asked Prone about that display, here's the reply:

The IPS display is an LG LP133WD2SLB2. It is 1600x900. I think it's the same display that's in the Lenovo Yoga 13. The connector is a standard 40-pin dual LVDS connection. It matches the connector from the stock display so no hardware had to be modified.
