    Hello,

I recently bought the S260 and would like to get some feedback. The fan is constantly running and the noise, though low is audible and distracting - is this normal for a Sony? Please offer comment or suggestions on how to make it quieter.

Make sure that under the power properties, VAIO power management, your CPU Control is set to adaptive either if you are plugged in or on battery. That should take care of the fan noise if it's running 100% of the time. If it's still running at full for a long time when you're on adaptive, get a faster notebook! You are working it hard with something that's taking all your CPU power! [ :p]

I have an s360p and the fan is just down-right annoying... I have been looking all over the web to find out how I can replace it -- if that is possible, or change powersettings -- no luck... There are a ton of threads on speedfan and Vaio Power Management -- but at the end of the day the fan noise just will not go away. This is a great notebook, but unless you are on a plane with enough surrounding noise you are going to hear it. I am not too sure I buy the "buy a faster" notebook approach... Sony should do something about this - they have notes in tech support stating the "issue is being researched..." Truthfully, I am pretty upset and will probably sell mine on ebay and go back to IBM.
