I've been looking at a Sony S270 (customizable) and I can't decide so I would like some opinions.

    Possible configurations
    1. 1.7/1.8GHz Dothan, 2x256Mb RAM, 80GB 54K rpm HD, B/G & Bluetooth^
^Everything would be covered by Sony (for what it's worth [ ;)])
    2. 1.7GHz Dothan, 1x256Mb RAM, 40GB 42K rpm HD, B/G & Bluetooth*
*Add aftermarket 2x512Mb Kingston RAM and a HGST 60GB 72K rpm HD

    But I'm not sure if...

there a performance difference between 2x256 and 1x512 memory configuration?

and is there much of a peformance difference between the 1.7 and 1.8GHz Dothan processors? (I've read the articles I just haven't seen any 1.7GHz Dothans tested)
