    Hi

My vaio SA4C5E is less than 2 years old. It was low on battery the other day (blinking green power light) so i plugged it in which started the charge process, then 2 minutes later completely shut down.

No response from power button and no lights with the charger on.

I charged up the external sheet battery with the external power module and same charger which shows the adapter is fine. No response from the computer when the now full sheet battery is on.

Ive also tried removing and replugging in the internal battery with no success.

What puzzles me is that im not getting response from the external battery but i dont know how the thing is wired up.

Now for diagnosis. Does a dead motherboard result in all of these symptoms? Would I not even get the power adapter light nor any other lights on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you try with only the charger attached, no batteries? If that doesn't work then try removing all the removable bits (optical drive, HDD, memory, wifi, etc) and apply power. If nothing happens then you know your motherboard is toast. However, if the computer powers on, then try adding back one item at a time (of course, remove power before changing anything each time) until you hit on the item that stops the computer from powering on.
