Hi, I'm interested in the new Vaio SA. Its specs are really impressive, but I fear its screen resolution (1600x900 on a 13.3", that is to say 138 PPI) could be too high for my needs.

I use my notebook for coding and reading news online, in other words I spent my working days reading a lot of text on screen. As you know, web sites are generally designed with precise pixel dimensions; as a consequences at high DPI values, a site and its fonts will appear tremendously tiny and the reading experience will be a nightmare. I understand that I could zoom in with CTRL++, but I hate to have constantly zooming in web pages as I do on my iPhone; moreover I prefer to view web texts at their original size and in their original context (I don't like Readability).

Unfortunately, I'm not able to view a Vaio SA in person (the shops in my area have only the SB series) so I'm asking you a personal favour: could you make a video of your screen while surfing the web, so I can have a general idea of the reading experience? Just reset the zoom feature of the browser (CTRL+0) before shooting. I need a video similar to this: Macbook Pro hi-res screen Text reading on Vimeo

The test web pages I would like to see on the SA screen are the following:

Debt and politics in America and Europe: Turning Japanese | The Economist
Sheryl Sandberg & Male-Dominated Silicon Valley : The New Yorker
Usa: incubo default, trattativa finale - Corriere della Sera
Jude Law interview: 'I was an optimist. A champion of the human spirit' | Culture | The Observer
    Drupal - Open Source CMS | drupal.org
Fooled by Science by H. Allen Orr | The New York Review of Books
Forte sisma in Giappone paura anche a Tokyo - Repubblica.it
Amazon.com: Rework (9780307463746): Jason Fried, David Heinemeier Hansson: Books
La chiamavano questione morale - l’Espresso
Accord provisoire en vue sur la dette américaine - LeMonde.fr

    Many thanks,

    Manosk

If you don't have the time to shoot and post a video, please post some photos of the screen while visiting the above-mentioned web sites. Thanks.

WOW! This screen looks wonderful for text reading! The fonts are crisp and tiny, but not so tiny as I feared. I was thinking of buying the SB (1366x768) but these pictures won me.

    Many thanks!

Just out of curiosity: do you generally use the zoom (CTRL++) when you want to comfortably read a long article on your Vaio SA?

I've always used high resolution monitors so I have gotten used to it. I never really find the need to use zoom.

I use C++ all the time on Chrome. The beauty is that Chrome remembers what C++ setting you have for each website. (Firefox may be the same, I'm not sure). So I find that I only end up using C++ when I'm randomly surfing the web, otherwise I usually end up going to the same websites every day and I don't have to worry about it.
