Try taking it back to the Sonystyle shop.

    Take a picture.

Also, is this white spot from the pixels actually being white, or from the back-light bleeding through?

Would have to take the laptop into a Sony store for warranty since the dot is still there even in the BIOS screen. It's probably a dead pixel.

Looks like the pixels are physically damaged.

it's known as bruising. Meaning there was some pressure applied to the screen. My question, does that appear only in certain angles or not? My vaio has about 2 of these spots, but only if you view it from a 40+ degree angle vertically above the screen.

edit: some people got sony to replace their LCD, i didnt bother since i dont see it unless i'm viewing it from that angle, and since it's a TN panel, it doesnt have very good viewing angles anyways. Not worth the hassle IMO

Just talk to Sony, say you recently bought the laptop and when you turned it on this morning you saw the white spot, which is unacceptable for a laptop of this price... blah, blah blah. Be stern, but not offensive

The SB suffers from bruising too then? Wow, Sony must be ignoring all these LCD woes... I'm still kind of scared that this might happen to my Z one day...

Just because 1 or 2 people out of thousands end up with a 2-pixel bruised screen doesn't mean the entire production line is faulty. In any case, most manufacturers (even apple btw) dont replace the screen unless you have like 5 or 10 bad pixels.

HI everybody, Sony send the elder men to replace the screen for me. he did very carefully. I'm very please about it. I'm happy now.

I have something say for everybody know that. The LCD screen was produced by Chimei not LG. Now I know why it's not good like the old Sony Vaio Z. My SB is the latest version of SB
