How does this laptop (which I think is exclusive to Best Buy) compare to the SB laptop? It seems like a much better deal, being only $980 yet coming with the Netgear Push2 box and a blue ray player. (I can also get an xbox 360 from Best Buy for being a student...)

So basically, is there a big enough difference in quality to justify spending the extra $200-300 (if I can sell both the xbox and netgear box) to "upgrade" to the SB model??
And if anyone owns an SC (Blue Label), how do you like it? (Btw, I am not into gaming, most I would do are online flash games and maybe Sims... mostly will be used for internet and school work).

Thank you in advance for any input, I'd really appreciate it!

Writing this on my SC now. I LOVE this thing. SUPER lightweight and powerful for what I need it to do. I also do not play games. The palm rest and lid are metal despite what some people will say. The internals may be plastic to help save costs since you are getting the BluRay, Seagate hybrid, Push2TV, but you also get some Best Buy Bloatware that is easy to uninstall/stop from startup menus. You also get 2 year warranty with the SC over the SB

I think the SC is a perfectly fine laptop especially for what I need/use it for. I think I might get the Sheet battery for longer battery since it can use that AND has the docking stations. I have played with the SB and I don't notice a huge difference...if I wanted to I could still install an SSD and more RAM (which I am considering RAM for sure because I use photoshop/lightroom/premiere/audition at times.)

I also jumped on the SC deal because I got the XBox (selling my old 60GB since those are prone to the RRoD.)

i am also thinking about this laptop but was wondering if the screen resolution and real estate is good enough for normal school work (word, powerpoint, internet,etc.). It doesnt have to be a an uber vaio Z screen but is it good enough for a normal non-laptop enthusiast?

I just ordered my SC series from bestbuy and I've played with it quite a bit at bestbuy. I've used the SB at the Sonystyle store and it did feel a bit better but not 300 dollars worth. Both seem to be great laptops. I will be getting an SSD

On a side note I'm not sure how you guys are getting free Xbox360s since the Vaio SC series isn't a qualifying laptop.

    ^^
I went day 1 and waiting until the store opened and went to the student looking kid because I know a lot of the time the first day or so Best Buy doesn't know all the details and they will often think "Oh the systems aren't updated yet." The sales rep even went to the store manager to have it approved...I thought my deal was killed right there. I was happy when I walked out with an SC, Netgear Push2TV, Kaspersky, and a 360 for the price of the laptop. BOOYAH!

No, absolutely not :) you'll not be able to see anything on the screen at all!! :)

Seriously, do you think sony would release a laptop which is not good enough even for the basic tasks for a 'non-laptop' user like yourself?
