    Hi guys

I'm about to buy me a new Sony Vaio 15.5" SE laptop, but I just read in some forum posts that many people have issues with fan noise.

I was thinking about configuring with the i7 2640M processor and Radeon 6630M graphics card. Does anyone have the same configuration, and can confirm whether the fans does make a lot of noise? This is actually a deal breaker for me, so it would be really nice to have some first hand input on that.

I'm also thinking of upgrading to a SSD and 4 GB more of ram later, which I will do myself. Is this easy do to, or are the hard drives and memory slot well hidden and not easily accessible ?

    Thanks

    Hi Eivsemb,

I think you should ask this question in the Sony SE owners thread. It's fairly active and you have a much better chance of being noticed.

I am sure someone has the same configuration as you, I'm running the 6630m, 8gbs of ram but with an i5 instead.

When I use Speed mode the fan can get fairly loud but I didn't find it worse than my old laptop when it was under a load. Maybe 'average' is a good word to describe the noise level. It's fairly quiet when on Stamina mode and just using the Intel 3000. The RAM is really easy to add and you only have to remove one panel, I haven't changed the hard drive so I can't comment.

    Hope that helps.
