Hi, I was contemplating purchasing a used SR series laptop. I wanted to hook it up to my stereo system and was wondering how its noise emission is... is it on the quiet side? If you have links to a review that tests its noise emission, I'd be grateful, thanks!

Had a chance to play with one for a couple weeks, I found it on the noisier side. The fan alternates between high and low states, when low it's near inaudible, when high it's very audible. It alternates quite frequently, maybe every minute or so...

Yikes, thanks, Convoluted! Good thing I checked here!

Any other VAIO laptops with the older/discontinued Sound Reality card for audio installed that you can recommend, that is suitably quiet?

Another question - will the Sound Reality card work if I update the OS to Windows 7 from Vista?
