    Hi everyone!

I've searched the forum and have not seen a dedicated topic on this topic. Somebody briefly mentioned it in the SR owner's thread, but I figured it may be best to create a separate topic for this.

All credit goes to the ibcd123 from slickdeals.

VAIO Mobility Bundle which includes a Sony model VGP-AC19V30 Stick AC Adaptor, Sony model VGP-BPS13A/B Standard Battery and a Sony model VGP-CKSR1 Carrying Case.

Office Max is selling the Sony Vaio SR220J/H for $800, which qualifies for the Sony laptop trade-in program. I have a 6 years old IBM T40 that's in perfect working condition with a tiny crack near the arrow keys. If I trade in the laptop i should receive $300 rebate, which would make the laptop about $550 after taxes. There's also a rebate to get the Productivity or Mobility bundle for free, and I can sell the items from the bundle to further lower the cost.

I already have a dell xps M1530 as a primary laptop hooked up to a 24" dell display. I plan to use this sony laptop for web browsing, watch anime, and for travel between seattle and sf bay area. For my purpose, is this a good deal? I don't really need this laptop, but it's too good of a deal to pass up, so it's more of an impulse buy. I already received the laptop from Office Max but I have not opened it just in case i want to return it.

Any thought on this? Is it worth the money? Any feedback/comment is greatly appreciated!

    Its difficul to tell.

Depending on the specs - it sounds OK - but the SR200 series is not the newest, the SR300 series is newer - changes will be marginal I believe.

Just browse the web for SR200 prices and you get a good comparison.

Overal I think it sounds quite good - 6 year old laptop - it can work another 5 years or break any time...

It'll be a lot more portable than your XPS. If you really need a lighter laptop that's alot more portable and will have better battery life, you can't go wrong for ~$500.

I understand this is not the latest and greatest. I configured an SR laptop on Sony's website and it comes out to around $1150, with P8600 cpu, ATI 3470, 160GB HD, 2GB memory. But SR300 series does not qualify for the $300 trade-in program.

I agree, I was a little upset about that too.
