I am getting ready to purchase my second SZ. My first SZ370P/C, my girlfriend took once she found out how nice and light it was. Oh well. So now it is my turn to upgrade a short six months later. Obviously I will get an SZ4XX with Windows Vista and Office 2007, but does anybody know what the deal is with Sony and Cingular WAN? When will it be upgraded to 3G vice the EDGE capability it has now. I noticed that the TX is available with SPRINT UMTS, but a Cingular option for the SZ seems appropriate and almost late coming. Does anybody know the scoop with Sony and Cingular or Sony and the future of WAN? Is it worth my waiting a little bit or is this not on the horizon?

Not on the Horizon at the moment from what I've heard. You're stuck with EDGE until Sony decides to up it on the SZ's.

SOny just finished its own HSDPA card and will be released this year. Their old card was the guts of what was in the old TX and SZ series. So my guess is they will use their own modem going forward.

Having said that, I have Cingular's Optionmax GT PCMCIA card. Works great. It's much better than dialup and close to broadband speeds. For normal things I don't notice much difference.

So you can still get what you want.

Hey FenderP, thanks for the gouge. Do youhave any idea what the timeline will be for their own card and do you have any idea if it will be compatable with Cingular?
