I know it says the new SZ6's will be using the nvidia 8400 GS card. But are they running at the full 128bit or 64 bit?
Will sony be using the mainstream 8400 GS cards or are they using a powered down version ?
Thanks.

The 8400M-GS always has a 64-bit memory bus width. The 128-bit version is called the 8400M-GT.

Of course it could could be that everyone is writing it wrong and it's really a GT instead of GS. Now what about the case of the sony card? The only reason I ask is becuase it could always be mislabled. I believe the sony sites list their card at 128bit, but I have heard in the past Sony would say their cards are 128 and really put them out as 64 ( I believe I heard some people upset about that with the 7400m cards)
Thanks, just trying to understand better. Also would you happen to have the specs on the sony card? Clock and mem speeds ? -
Every 8400M-GS is 64-bit, even the one in the XPS. I'm not sure what would lead you to believe otherwise.
I suppose you could be thinking of the amount of video memory? The 8400M-GS could have 64mb of video memory, I suppose, but it really wouldn't matter that much. -
I think somebody (OP) is confused between memory interface (64-bit), and Video RAM (UP to 256MB on the 8400 GS; 128MB on the XPS 1330; 64MB on SZ6)

Anyways, so then if both Sony and Dell are using 8400m GS cards, at 64bit bandwith, would they both be running at 128mb memory, since I believe that is what both are advertised with. Also do you know if they are running at same speeds? Lastly, I thought the 8400m GT and 8600m GT are the only ones with the GDDR3, yes I saw it in a forum review of the 1330 that it is using DDR3. If that really is the case, is there a possibility that the Sony 8400 could be the same? I am looking to buy a 13.3" and so far these seem to be my best options, and I would like to see how they compare in the graphics. -
No, they're not running the same. The SZ has only 64MB VRAM; the 1330 has 128MB.
Now, I just read an SZ650 review someone posted a link to in another thread here, in which they claim the SZ can handle games reasonably well considering its low-end video card. I'll bet from a practical perspective, the SZ and 1330 are both about the same. Neither of them are real gaming rigs anyway.
Something to consider is the manufacturing delays in the 1330 line. If I hadn't already been in the que for a month, I'd prob be jumping on a premium SZ6. In fact, I'm almost starting to hope Dell doesn't deliverYou trade some things off on the SZ (not much, btw), but they're also cheaper.

All indications point towards the fact that the Sony SZ6 and the M1330 will game very similarly. The amount of video memory isn't nearly as important as the power of the actual GPU.

Thanks for the info.
