Surely the Sony website ship date estimates are wrong? If not, they must work like one day out of the week. I've been searching around for a laptop with specs that I can accept without being forced to live on the street after I order. Anyway, I was kind of liking the specs of the Sony Vaio F series laptop. I noticed though that it had an estimated ship date of 2/02/2012! Surely that can't right. I'm just looking to see peoples experiences. I'm looking for a laptop by christmas.

    Thanks for the help!

You don't honestly expect shipping time to be the same all around the globe, do you? Also - it matters if you order a custom laptop or a standard configuration.
If the second - you must have seen a really good offer on Sony's website to be ordering from there or you should be living on an island on this planet where Sony Store's prices are good in comparison to other companies or the resellers are too expensive. In Europe at least the reseller offers are at least as good as the prices in Sony's Online Store, more often much better.

If it helps you - as far as I have heard (haven't ordered a laptop from Sony Online myself), shipping duration of pre-configured models in Europe is about 1-3 weeks if on stock of course and depending on the Country.

I recently ordered a SB series (Configured) on the 5th November, and it's been dispatched to from european logistics, to the caurier on the 19th.
Compared to any other manufacturer, that's extremely long just to add an extra stick of ram, and change the processor.
Are you getting it configured or normal? if it's normal then I wouldn't bother waiting.

I was looking at a configued one. I'm been looking around on newegg and other sites that have preconfigured laptops, but I just can never seem to find a combination of everything that I like and If I spend a lot of money I want to make sure that every piece will be the way I want it, within reason.

My first pick for a laptop would be a Lenovo Thinkpad W520 since I plan on using Autodesk 3ds max, maya, and the adobe suite. However, I'm just trying to settle for something a little less so my wallet doesn't suffer quite so bad.

On top of that I'm looking for 1920x1080 resolution and matte black exterior (the exterior sounds dumb perhaps, but I have an old glossy laptop now and it has just made me hate glossy finishes) A matte screen would be best too, but I can settle for a glossy if there is no other option.
