Hey guys, I'm new to the forums. I recently just purchased the new sony vaio t13 ultrabook. I need a bit of help and it would be great if some of you could do that or answer my questions.

    1. I bought the i7 model with 6gb of ram. Is the max it can hold 8 gigs? Because I purchased another 2gig ram, wasn't sure if it could go over 8.

    2. I think its pretty well known that this ultrabook has a fan issue. Personally, it isn't that bad for me. When I'm browsing the web I can't really hear it at all, other than when it comes on occasionally for like 10 seconds? However when I'm watching videos/movies, the fan tends to come on full blast, but again I can't really hear it at all becus the speakers are pretty loud. I don't think sony is going to release a bios update to fix it..can anyone on this forum create like a hacked bios fix for it? I'm really worried because I love this laptop, but its for school purposes (planning on bringing it to lectures and the library). So it would really suck if the fan randomly went full blas ton me and annoyed the other students around me. Please if there is anyone out there who can create a hacked bios, I myself, and I'm sure every other T series user would greatlyyyyyy appreciate it!!!!
    Thanks!

    welcome!

i have the same device with 11 inch screen and 8gb of ram. i am afraid you won't be able to upgrade to 8gb with your additional 2gb. your device will probably have 4gb + 2gb inside, which means there is no more free slot. you would have to buy 4gb to replace the 2gb, which will give you 8gb of ram.

the "fan issue" is the reason i regred spending money on this device. This is the loudest notebook i have ever had. Apart from being annoying, the device is way to loud to use it in a class room or somewhere else, where you have to share the room with other people.

i have already contacted the sony support, but they deny this issue at the moment. i wonder how many more negative ratings and angry posts need to appear before sony start responding to the customers.

If you bought it from Sony's Website, get an RMA and return it to them. I ended up returning it because of the fan and because I needed more power than what an ultrabook could provide me.

has anyone figured out a way to get the fan lower yet? i found out if u set it to power savor mode, the fan rarely ever comes on, unless your gaming or like watching netflix. if u set it to balanced, its pretyy mch the same, but the looud fan comes on sometimes for about 5 seconds when you open new webpages. when u set it to high performancce, the fan will usually always come on for a brief period when u open new pages or programs. regardless of the advanced settings in each power mode this happens. because of this im usually in power saving mode becus i dont wanna hear the fan, i wish i could use performance, becus it is indeed a lot faster =/
