Sony Vaio TT Webcam Problems

Just wanted to get this out there for the record as well. This laptop, which has numerous touchpad problems, can't play sound files properly, and which apparently has a Ctrl button that only registers 50% of the time I tap it ... also has a faulty webcam. I have the Sony TZ model (its predecessor) right next to it with the same built-in webcam technology in the lid. The TZ is clear and focused and works fine. Of course the TT model is blurry, unfocused, and looks poor quality.

I have finally decided to toss in the towel with this lemon of a laptop model and will enjoy hearing about all the recalls they will be doing in the future, when people start speaking up about these problems. I am no longer going to try to have the problem fixed or order yet another (ive already tried three of them, all had problems). Im going to get the "Z" model instead.

I just wanted to put this thread out there so when (not if) people search for Webcam problems with the Sony Vaio TT model, they will know its not all in their head, just because of the enthusiasts in the TT threads.

I still not decided whether TT or Z.I've read all the TT threads and so far the major issue was the touchpad but now something else is going on.How come nobody else has reported this issue (webcam)?Wouldn't it be with ur unit?Why don't u return it? > Question: when u use the lap on ur lap does it feel hot(very hot or not).Thanks for the post.

 

Well don't forget all the happy TT users are unlikely to come in here. Don't judge the TT by a couple of user comments (even though they are very valid).

Either the TT or the Z will be my lap just for Net/Word Processing/DVd/Skype etc..Nothing for heavy usage as my other lap/PC are at my office.The price tag 4 either one of then is pretty salty but what the......>That's why if I invest this amount of money I'll definitely go with a 3 year insurance w/ ADH.Thus if there is anything wrong SONY will have to fix it up.

 

Google is smart enough to find a reference to "webcam" and "TT" within the main TT thread. I don't think it's very helpful to be creating multiple new threads on every single issue you want to complain about.

And those of us that like are TTs aren't "enthusiasts", maybe it's because we're on Vista instead of XP, or maybe you've had particularly bad luck with yours, or we've had particularly good luck with ours. Either way, my TT works great and I'm happy with my purchase.
