Sony notebooks usually follow within a couple of weeks of U.S. release from what my memory serves, so 2 weeks to a month I'd say.

Do you think it's worthwhile to purchase the T now or wait for the TX in a month or so in Canada?
I'm in a bit of a situation because I need a light laptop for class, so I was thinking to purchase the new TX, but you never seem to know exactly when the new Sony lines come out. So, I can't wait, hypothetically, for 2 months for the TX line to come out.
Which do you think I should purchase?

I had my eyes set on the new TX ever since i learned of the new S model from Sony. If you look at the Sonystyle japanese website, you learn of the new improvements over the previous T. One thing to note, the new TX uses a carbon fiber lid + LED backlight, so I assume the LED backlight is the reason behind Sony's claim of what? ... 7.5 hours battery life?

That, the SD card + mem stick pro slots, and the pretty keyboard keys. Not to mention it is now less than one inch thick. I'm just curious if the memory is self-upgradeable. It's a bit costly getting the 1/1.5 gig option on the SonyStyle website.

Most of the T series have been able to take self installed memory upgrades. The T150/250s were a bit harder (pop out the keyboard). But not really that big a deal given sony's diagrams. I have owned two TRs and two Ts and upgraded the memory on all of them at a small fraction of the cost Sony charges. One thing on the thickness. Overall it is not less than one inch thick, that is only at its thinest point. You can look at specs and discussions at TR World.

Thanks for the update. I actually e-mailed the Sony Canada GM of Advertising, and he simply replied, "Late October..."

I guess to be safe, we should be expecting them to arrive by Halloween.

I want to buy this notebook but I think I'll wait until they include the new 1.8'' 80GB HDD (MK8007GAH) because I currently have a 60GB HDD and I've run out of space and constantly having to delete / cleanup to regain a little be more free space to keep going.

The 80GB HDD made by Toshiba is due to ship its first large batch to OEM and partners any day now. I would guess we might see Sony including them in models around or just after Christmas.

I’m really impressed with this laptop for its carbon fiber body, its LED backlight for its LCD TFT XBright screen, the new Intel video graphics chip, etc...

You can preorder the unit now for Canadians. Looks like they put up this page yesterday night or today. Oct 20th is the estimated availability date.

I noticed that the TX651 model that they are selling at Sonystyle.ca has the Wireless WAN antenna on the side. In the US, Cingular provides the service for this, but does anybody know who is providing the WWAN service in Canada or if the picture on the website is just a copy of the US, and in fact, the CDN version doesn't have the WWAN?

Hmm, since Canada runs on a GSM network, I don't see a reason why they wouldn't offer the WAN option on a Canadian version.

    Greetings !

My friend is ATM in USA and I wanted to buy TX series, but now I see that you're talking late October as shipping start.

As you can see on NewEgg, they have it in stock.
Is this really true or what ?

It should be shipping now unless there's been a delay I haven't heard about.
