Hi guys, I have a Sony TZ 27 which I bought in Singapore. I has an international warranty and has served me well for the last six months.

The battery has two small retaining clips which keep it in place. They are white and can just be seen when the battery is removed. One of the clips has broken off. This results in the battery moving on one side and the laptop shutting down when it disconnects.

I've spoken to Sony who have told me the battery and casing are not covered in the warranty. I'm not really happy as I've looked after the laptop like a baby.

I'm also not keen on spending £150 on a new battery. Can anyone suggest an aftermarket one with a similar performance or suggest where I can get a cheaper OEM one.

I'm pretty dissapointed with Sony's response really.

This seems to be a (income generating?) design feature of the TZ series.

I haven't got a TZ so I don't have first hand experience but, as an engineer, I would call this vulnerability a piece of bad design. However, Sony may think it is good design because of all the extra revenue it creates.

Thanks John, I've been looking and have found similar threads. :( I'm not impressed.

I guess there aren't any aftermarket batteries out there either
