Does any know what connection interface the Sony use on the Vaio TZ 32gb ssd + 160hd?

I understand Sony use the ZIF connection interface on the 1.8" 32gb SSD but I'm not too sure on the 2.5" hard drive?

I have a tz90 with both hd's and I have replaced the 2.5 I can say for sure that the 1.8 is a zif and the 2.5 is a sata, it is not connected to the USB it is connected to the sata mobo interface. If your laptop came with an cdrom I belive you need special hardware to turn that into a 2.5 hd slot

I know for sure the DVD is connected via USD so VAIO's power management could turn it off to increase battery life. The 2.5" HDD is "supposed" to be connected via SATA. I hope the 2.5" HDD is not through USB because the transfer rate would be horrible. LOL

I'm pretty sure that 2.5" HDD is SATA, 1.8" HDD / SSD is PATA and DVD is USB.

Intel 945 chipset only comes with 1 PATA port - 1.8" HDD only comes in PATA so that is taken up.

DVD as per mentioned. Also you can choose to unplug the device in taskbar like all USB storage devices.

2.5" HDD uses SATA port on the 945 chipset, hence frees up the USB port when you choose that option.

This is good to know. It makes sense that the 2.5" is SATA, USB would be simply too poky for us! :p

Did you folks see that Toshiba announced a 128GB SSD today? Engadget says that Sandisk won't be far behind with their own announcement, since Tosh = Sandisk. :D
