My brother has a sony vaio laptop and he recently had a problem where it would shut down after 5 minutes of loading up, I figured it has to be CPU overheating and suggested he replaced the fan. He doesnt know anything about laptop hardware so he gave me the laptop and bought a new fan for it off of ebay. He gave it to me 2 days ago and asked if i can replace the fan for him. I already did this before for a friend and the laptop was probably a model lower then my brothers so everything was very similar. Okay so onto the problem, i opened up the laptop and replaced the fan, when i put everything back and turned on the laptop nothing happened, the computer didnt turn on, i plugged the power cable in to see if it would even charge, nothing..
i plugged everything back in, i know theres a cable for the fan and theres a cable for the florescent light on the bottom of the mouse pad,
when i put in the new fan i removed the old thermal grease and put some new grease onto it.
I don't even know if the laptop turned before i started working on the laptop..
the only thing i can think of is a metal piece is probably short-circuiting the mobo but i'm not even sure about that..
-
can the laptop powerup with only the power cable in? meaning, without the battery?
-
bump for desperation..
