    Hi all.

    Hoping you can help me with a strange issue with the laptop.

    I have the Vaio VGN-FS215B, due to malicious damage by a 3rd party, I have had to replace the drive from a 60 GB to 120 GB.
    Now the CMOS detects that the drive is in, but since the recovery software is on the other drive (which is totally dead), and I don't have any recovery diskettes, I've been trying to clean-install a new version on Windows.

    It used to have Windows XP Home installed, so I've tried that, and and it freezes at the startup screen, after installation.
    I rebooted, and it locked at the the hardware detection stage, so I tried alternatives. I've tried Visa and Windows 2000 which both lock at the startup screen.

    The partition size is 120 GB / FAT 32, which I could upgrade later to NTFS

    I've been in touch with the Sony VAIO-Link Customer Services thingy, they did state that I could purchase the recovery dvd's at cost (ahem!, no price but not cheap I'm sure).

    So, my question and dilemma is this, from what I've explained;

    Do any of you have any suggestions as to what might be the issue or know how I can get the recovery DVD's as well?

    Hope you can help me out here.

    :)
