I encountered a problem when I tried to reinstall Windows XP on my Vaio VGN-FS940 laptop.
Could someone guide me through how to flash the BIOS?

    Thanks!

What kind of problem? Installing XP and BIOS updates are not usually related.

When the Windows install files are being copied onto the laptop, the following error occurs "file ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded. Error code is 7".
I looked this error message up on the net and fount that there may be two causes to it:
    1) Bad RAM module. I have changed the RAM module but still have the error
    2) ACPI has to be turned off in BIOS, or there may be other BIOS confiruration errors.
The phoenix bios that is on the laptop does not allow me to change acpi settings. I thought flushing the bios would solve the issue, but I am not sure.
