Hi. I'm new to this forum and I really hope someone can help me out! I have a Vaio VGN-FZ190 and I installed windows 7 on it in November 2009 (before that I had Windows Vista).

Ever since I installed Windows 7, my Firefox would stop responding for a couple of minutes. It still does that, but now when it does that, other programs (such as AIM or iTunes) will also stop responding for that time and then they start again and it's all normal. I've tried taking off all the add-ons for Firefox but that didn't work. I tried using just one program at a time but that didn't work either. I didn't have this problem with Vista but I don't really want to go back to Vista because I do like Windows 7 a lot. Oh, it also happens with Internet explorer but I hate using that so I don't use it that often. Can anyone tell me what to do about it? Its really frustrating!

My laptop was one of the ones with the faulty chip and I wasn't able to use it from April 2009 to November 2009, when we got it fixed .

Take a look at the task manager during the freeze. Also open the resource monitor (under "performace" tab in task manager) to see any abnormal CPU, RAM, and disk usage.
Did you install all the hardware drivers in Windows 7? You can have a read at my clean install guide.

Hmm I tried opening the task manager during the freeze, but it always opens after the freeze ends.

I'm not that computer savy so I don't know what everything means but total physical memory I have is 2046M and available is 1048M. I installed this add-on for Firefox called StatusBarEx and it says Firefox is using 199 -221 M (15%) if that helps? I don't really understand what the resource monitor is telling me. Sorry!!

I'm pretty sure I installed all the hardware drivers in Windows 7 -- like I went to the Sony Vaio website and got all the drivers for VGN-FZ190 and installed them.
