    Hello,
I am considering the purchase of a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ140 CTO but am finding trouble obtaining full information about it. Can anyone say if this is an old UK model or from some other part of the world? Also what does CTO stand for?
Any assistance in finding full information would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    ultraviolet

Look for it on Newegg.com It may cost more there... but you can at least check it out. I think newegg ships to UK but I don't know.

Thanks for your reply Tokoman. I checked the NewEgg.com site and they have what seems to be a ZS140 lower in the range but this indicates that it might be a US model. I think the VGN-SZ140 CTO I am looking at is a relatively high end model (1.88GHz, T2600?).

There is a practically new one for sale and I would like to independantly find out the spec. I have spent a little time searching the web but cannot seem to find very much information. I have also attempted to ask Sony (both by telephone and email) but have found that they make it very difficult to ask any questions without quoting an existing machine serial number. The local Sony Centre claim to deal in VAIOs but have been of no help whatsoever.

If anyone can direct me to any information I'd be most grateful, especially on what the suffix "CTO" indicates.

    Thanks,
    ultraviolet

The CTO stands for Configure to Order. The SZ140 series was Sony's BTO (Build to order)/CTO version of the SZ before they moved to the SZ200 series.

Thanks Nixon, I understand perfectly now!
I cannot find any trace of the SZ140 range, past or present, in the UK so it may be a USA model.
