I have a VGN- SZ320p (could be p/b model). It's about 5 years old, running on XP SP3.

I recently had a virus attack on my operating system (windows32) and it got a hold of my virus software. Malware found nothing, so i decided to do a system recovery. I chose the first option (to restore to original working state) and it showed an error. Told me to run full system restore. I tried running that with and without the recovery drive partition and each time i got an error. The last time i tried (last night), it stopped at 32% when trying to reformat the c drive. Came up with error 400. Now when i take out my system recovery cd and try to turn the computer on, no operating system shows up. I am trying to not buy a new computer because of financial issues, but can't figure out what my issue is. I tried looking it up online but can not find a solution to my problem. The only things i came up with are 1. i need a new hard drive. 2. i need a new operating system, 3. i need to hire a specialist. I'd rather do option 1 if this would solve my issue.

With option 1, if that is the solution do i need to get the same gb as my current hard drive or can i get one that has a little more memory?

Someone please help, because i'm at a loss of what the exact problem is.
