    hello everyone!!

I am new to this forum and hope that its going to be a great forum for all the notebook questions.

how is the Sony Vaio VGN-SZ340P10 notebook? It sells around $1600, is it worth buying?

In general how is Sony SZ series?? How is the motion eye camera on the SZ series notebooks? I don expect sub par quality. It is atleast ok in an room light? I had an HP DV2000T and the webcam is of no use on that notebook in an room light, all you see is just a black pic.

How is the audio quality with inbuilt speakers?

How abt the wifi signal reception?

    thanks.

    1600.00 is a bit much for a 340P10. The 340P10 usually sell for 1200.00 to 1300.00. I could get you a 430 for just a little more.

The motion eye camera is decent, it is 1.3 mega pixels. I think the speakers are excellent for a laptop.

It has an core 2 duo 2ghz processer, 120 gb hdd and 1gb ram. does this configuration sounds costlier for an sz340?

Yes, 1600.00 is too much - well compared to prices on eBay.

I would never compare prices to ebay, it all depends on potential buyer and stuff so it'd not fair to compare it to other 'legimitate' sources.

i'd never buy something like a laptop on ebay anyway. it's too complex and too expensive and I'd rather have a reputable [company] where i can send it back to have them repair it or RMA it back to sony.

    it's currently 1639.99 on newegg.
I purchased it back in early december and after tax and shipping it was about $2150.

As far as the laptop itself, I really like it. I'd pop in 2GBs of RAM into it, and I'd stay with XP Pro. The built-in cam is just ok, and the integrated mic is quite sensitive. Battery life is pretty good and the build quality seems good

There are reputable companies selling on eBay. PCTechSystem, and CompUSA, are two that come to mind. If it is brand new, it will include the standard warranty.

BTW, I've linked a photo taken with the built in camera so you can see the quality for yourself. You have the option to to change the brightness, hue, contrast etc. Most cell phones cameras are also 1.3 mega pixels so that should give you a pretty good idea of what you should expect.

It was taken during the day. If you mess with the settings you might be able to get a better picture. Here is one more:
